  • Perform tests on portable residual current device (RCD)
  • Carry out required action for compliant & non-compliant equipment
  • Fit tags in accordance with standard
  • Log records of test and inspection in accordance with standard

TRAINING – NATIONALLY RECOGNISED TEST & TAG COURSE

UEENEEPOO8B Conduct In-Service Safety Testing or Electrical Cord Assemblies and Cord Connected Equipment (Test & Tag)

Course Aim:
To provide the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely, using portable apparatus tester, identifying faults,
applying tagging, arranging for repair of faulty equipment and complete testing documentation.

Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate:

Knowledge to:

  • Implement Occupational Health and Safety workplace procedures and practices including the use of risk control measures as specified in the performance criteria and range statement
  • Apply sustainable energy principles and practices

Ability to conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord assemblies and cord connected equipment including:

  • Preparing the portable apparatus tester
  • Connecting cords and apparatus to the testing apparatus
  • Using test results to establish the safety status
  • Identifying safe and unsafe cords and apparatus
  • Applying appropriate tagging
  • Documenting testing activities
  • Dealing with unplanned events by drawing on essential knowledge and skills to provide appropriate solutions incorporated in a holistic assessment with the above listed items

Course Duration:
8 hours

Course Delivery
The training program will be conducted at suitable locations or on site in the workplace.

The course consists of a combination of face-to-face trainer-led theory classes and practical sessions involving small-group and individual activities.
Participants are provided with training manuals, which include all materials used in the training sessions, assessment materials (other than assessments) and reference materials.
Who is eligible to do this course:
Anyone with  an average literacy and  numeracy skills.

Course Outcome:
On successful completion students will be issued with a statement of attainment in " UEENEEP008B  Conduct In-Service Safety Testing of Electrical Cord Assemblies and Cord Connected Equipment (Test and Tag)". A statement of attainment is issued by a Registered Training Organisation when an individual completes one or more units of competency from a nationally recognised  qualification/course.

This Nationally recognised training course is part of the “UEE07- Electrotechnology Training Package” and is provided through a Registered Training Organisation – Provider Milcom number: 6859

• Earth continuity test

• Interpretation of Inspection and test results

• Testing frequencies & electrical risk assessments

Unit 4 - Record keeping & documentation

• OHS Regulation , clause 65 and AS/NZS 3760 requirements
